The future of the Estadio de Vallecas is starting to take shape. The Community of Madrid has presented Rayo Vallecano with a comprehensive reform project with an estimated investment of around 60 million euros.

What does the project include?

The plan includes a fourth stand, more seating, interior improvements, and an annex building with sports, social, and commercial uses.

The Community of Madrid, owner of the stadium, has taken an important step to unlock one of the most sensitive debates in Rayo Vallecano. After months of conversations, the regional executive has presented Rayo Vallecano with a concrete proposal to remodel their field.

What is the objective of the project?

The objective is for Rayo Vallecano to stay in Vallecas. The plan aims to prevent the club from leaving the Avenida de la Albufera and close speculation about a possible move to another point in Madrid.

The key would be to build a fourth stand on the Teniente Muñoz Díaz street side, the only side of the stadium that currently does not have seating. This intervention would allow the enclosure to be visually closed and improve the experience of the match day.

What's new in the project?

The project includes a technological frieze, a screen strip that would function as a digital ring to unite the stands and enhance the light shows. A lightweight double skin is also proposed for the exterior, with a translucent and permeable structure.

The new stadium would maintain part of the historical essence of Vallecas, but with a more modern image. The Community proposes to take advantage of the adjacent plot on Arroyo del Olivar street, also of regional ownership, to build a multi-functional building directly connected to the stadium.
