Rayo Vallecano is getting a revamp with the presentation of a comprehensive remodeling project for the Vallecas Stadium, which will increase its capacity to at least 18,500 spectators, up from the current 14,500. The Community of Madrid has presented this project, which is part of a plan to modernize the facility with the goal of improving its functionality, accessibility, and sports and social uses.
What changes will be made?
The remodeling of the Vallecas Stadium will include the construction of a new grandstand at the end facing Teniente Muñoz Díaz street, where there are currently no seats. The design, signed by architects Julián Zapata Jiménez and Pablo Moreno Mansilla, recovers the historical configuration of the stadium between 1955 and 1970, when it had grandstands on all four sides.
What is the objective of the remodeling?
The objective of the remodeling is to provide the club with facilities that meet the requirements of modern professional football, as part of a study process that began in 2024. The project also includes adapting the playing field to the standards required by LaLiga for First Division competitions and international tournaments.
When is the remodeling expected to be completed?
The remodeling of the Vallecas Stadium has an estimated investment of 60 million euros and a completion period of 24 months, excluding the new multi-functional building. The works will be compatible with the team's sports activity to minimize the impact on their calendar.
