Rayo Vallecano, after closing the sports stage of Íñigo Pérez, the most successful in the 102-year history of the club, is working on renewing its squad for next season. The club is occupied with the confection of the squad, especially because there are several players whose contracts are expiring and who will need to be replaced. In defense, there are three players whose contracts are expiring: Abdul Mumin, Luiz Felipe, and Luis Alfonso 'Pacha' Espino. The two first have had little participation this season and will not continue, and the future of 'Pacha' is uncertain. In midfield, the contracts of Gerard Gumbau and Unai López are expiring, who has an offer from Olympiacos but wants to stay in Vallecas, although before deciding he wants to know the coach and the project that is planned. The one who will not continue for sure is the Argentine midfielder Oscar Trejo, who, at 38 years old, has said goodbye after a historic season in which he had a secondary role. What is to be seen is if he reaches an agreement with the club to enter the structure in some section in which he can help. In these days, he will meet with Martín Presa to discuss this matter. The two loaned players, the striker Carlos Martín and the international winger Ilias Akhomach, will return to their respective teams of origin. Apart from these names, there are other players who could seek minutes away from Vallecas according to the evolution of the last campaign and the complexity of having continuity in the team. In this group are the goalkeeper Dani Cárdenas, the Dutch defender Jozhua Vertrouwd, and the Angolan forward Randy Nteka. From loan, they return the central Pelayo Fernández, the forward Raúl de Tomás, the goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Morro, and the striker Etienne Eto'o, whose continuity in the team seems complicated since they have not had excessive protagonism in their respective teams of loan. A special case is the Senegalese central defender Nobel Mendy, loaned by Betis to Rayo this last course, and for which the club has a preferential purchase option until June 30, since the automatic purchase was not made effective since it did not reach the minimum of minutes imposed in the loan contract. Cobeño has assured on several occasions that hiring him is something that is valued in the club, although for the moment it has not been officialized.
