Rayo Vallecano has publicly denounced an assault and acts of vandalism at the Estadio de Vallecas, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday and during the Vallecas Trophy match against Cagliari. The club points directly to the Madrid regional government and the ultra group Bukaneros as responsible for a climate of harassment they claim the entity is enduring.
The executive box was found daubed with graffiti reading 'Presa, get out now' before the friendly match. In a statement published on social media, Rayo questioned the public-private collaboration promoted by the regional Sports Councillor. "Is this the public-private collaboration the Sports Councillor wants for the Vallecas Stadium?", the club asked. "These images are the evident consequence of sown hatred," the text added, also criticising that the regional administration had carried out "zero works" at the ground over the summer.
Councillor's response and accusations
The Councillor for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Mariano de Paco, responded hours later by condemning the acts. "From the Community of Madrid we condemn any type of vandalism at the Vallecas Stadium." he stated. Two days prior, in a regional parliamentary session, De Paco had claimed that president Raúl Martín Presa wants to move the stadium to ADIF-owned land in a different area of Vallecas.
The club, however, insists there is a campaign of harassment that began on July 28. During the match against Cagliari itself, an attempt was made to storm the executive box by fans, "mostly hooded and some belonging to the ultra group Bukaneros," according to Rayo's description. The assailants battered access doors and surrounded the box chanting slogans and insults against the board, creating a "terribly unpleasant situation" for the authorities present.
Identification of ultras and formal complaint
Among those identified, the club points to "some known members of the Bukaneros ultra group," including two of the three spokespersons for a Rayo fan assembly held on August 2. In that meeting, linked to the ADRV Platform, statements were allegedly made about contacts with the regional government team. "They told us that the concession, while Martín Presa is at the helm of Rayo Vallecano, will not be signed again," the club's statement records from what was said there.
Rayo has already reported the events to the authorities and will file a formal complaint on Monday, providing security camera footage. "We will never give in to harassment and extortion," the club emphasises. This incident overshadows the team's preparation for the resumption of official competition, whose next fixture can be checked on the schedule page. Security at the historic Vallecas ground is now at the centre of a bitter political and institutional debate.
