Rayo Vallecano still hasn't confirmed where they will play their first home league match against Alavés on August 20. After the Madrid Community withdrew the stadium license, all eyes turned to Butarque, but according to Cadena SER, the club hasn't contacted Leganés to use their stadium.

What options remain for Rayo?

With the Metropolitano, Bernabéu, and Coliseum ruled out, the only alternatives in the Madrid Community are the fields of Alcorcón and Fuenlabrada, both in Primera Federación. However, these don't meet the conditions to host the 12,000 season ticket holders. The other possibility is to play outside Madrid, which makes no sense for a club rooted in Vallecas.

A recurring problem

Last year, Rayo had to train at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas because their sports city didn't meet the requirements. Now, with the stadium in doubt, club workers continue cleaning the field, despite not having rights over it. The situation complicates as the season approaches.

While uncertainty persists, the team prepares for a complicated season. In the last campaign, Rayo Vallecano finished 13th in La Liga with 35 points (8 wins, 11 draws, and 12 losses in 31 games). Their next match will be against Racing Santander on February 28, 2027.
